Hi all, Due to the RF36' end of life. We would to expand on an VAX4000-700 the DSSI bus with an BA353 and HSD10 with two RZ28D's. We try it with two BA353, that works with one, but not with an new one that we have just got from the factory ! In the documentation I see, that the HSD10 is supported by the BA350, but the BA353 doesn't appears... Please could you clarify this point. Best regards. Michel

For one thing, the BA353 doesn't support with 7200 RPM drives (like the RZ28D). The drive will COOK, and field service will NOT replace it under contract, because the failure is considered ABUSE. | |||||

Fred, Either use an a BA356 shelf with a HSD10-Bx installed or order a SF346 that already has the HSD10-BA installed that doesn't use a drive slot. Information on the SF346 can be found in note 7 of the HSD05/10 notes file. Regards John |
