I am on site with a customer, (who doesn't have a copy of the Command
Console SW installed yet) who has an AlphaServer running NT
V3.51 or V4.0 using mirrored disks on a KZPSC (SWXCR). He wants to
remove one member of the mirror set and then use the offline copies as
the source for backups. I have already told them this is not the best
way to do backups.
I haven't done this under NT, so...is it possible using the SWXCR sw
and NT without taking the system down?
thanks,
brett

1. Command Console SW? I assume you do NOT refer to SWCC, but to
SWXCRMGR, because this is the guy being able to talk to the KZPSC.
2. What are "offline copies"? Pull the disk and move to another system?
If YES: StorageWorks disk are RECONFIGURABLE; it is NOT a removable
device (disk-SBB's are garanteed for a maximum of 150 removal's/
insertions). Additionally: there are so much risks involved and
it might even not work (or sometimes; sometime not).
Removal of a disk out of a Mirrorset using the Online SWXCRMGR
does NOT make this disk visable or reconfigurable as a logical
unit on the fly.
Summary: What your customer wants CANNOT be done.
