6474.0. "2100A/KZPSA config" by LOTIMA::P_MORRIS () Thu Mar 13 1997 08:57
Can anyone tell me whether the following config is supported:-
Alphaserver 2100A RM (Lynx) 5/250 with 3 CPUs
1Gb Memory
SRM Version 4.4
PCI config:
bus 2 slot 1 PKA0 NCR----on board SCSI
bus 2 slot 6 EWA0 DECchip 21140 DE450
bus 0 slot 6 VGA S3Trio
bus 0 slot 7 PKB0 KZPSA--to--HSZ40
bus 0 slot 8 PKC0 KZPSA
bus 0 slot 9 PKD0 KZPSA--DWZZA--TZ877
Digital Unix V3.2D-2
All KZPSAs are running Version A10 f/ware
Also would it be supported to fit another KZPSA behind the PCI to PCI
bridge ie:4th KZPSA ?
If so ,am I right in thinking that the customer would have to add the
following to his kernel config(bus_probe_algorithm set to new) file
for the 4th KZPSA:-
pza3 at pci2000 slot 7 (assuming next slot down to DE450)
scsi4 at pza3 slot 0
bearing in mind that the "new" KZPSA would become PKB0 as the top slots
are probed first.
The reason for this question is that this customer has had a lot of
problems recently when trying to add a 3rd KZPSA,basically because of
not having A10 firmware & not editing the kernel config file correctly.
However with a KZPSA in the secondary pci & runing sizer after booting
the genvmunix kernel on Unix V3.2D-2,sizer doesn't actually return the
correct value for the pci bus ie: should be pci2000 ,it actually
returns pci2 instead. If pci2 is used instead & the kernel is rebuilt
the relevant KZPSA & devices aren't seen by Unix.
Regards
Phil Morris
