| The ESA we have sitting in our engineering
lab has a seperate shelf that houses all the
ECB SBBs.

6445.2 | Save those slots for disks | WONDER::WILLARD | | Wed Mar 05 1997 11:08 | 8 |
| Those batteries don't need to be plugged into BA356 slots, and so
don't need to rob slots.
If your taste runs to the tacky, just park the batteries on the
floor; as long as the cables run to the HS*50 controllers, the
batteries will source and sink power fine.

Thank you for the reply.
I guess that the standard packages have storage and controller shelfs
as follows:
Package No. of No. of No. of No. of Cache
Cabinet Storarage Shelf Controller Shelf Battery Shelf
Model C SW8T1 1 6 1 1
SW8T2 1 18 3 1
SW8T3 2 36 6 1
SW8T4 4 72 12 2
SW8T5 8 144 24 4
SW8T6 22 396 66 11
Model L SW8D1 1 6 3 1
SW8D2 1 14 7 2 *
SW8D3 2 28 14 3 *
SW8D4 3 42 21 4 *
Model M SW8M1 1 6 2 1
SW8M2 1 15 5 1
SW8M3 3 45 15 3
*: If each cabinet houses 22 shelfs, these packages have one
more shelf than they can incorporate.

| Jun-san,
I believe the ESA packages use the SW800 as the cabinet. The SW800 has
23 available shelf locations (the 24th is occupied by the fan tray) -
10 horizontal and 2 vertical in the front, 9 horizontal and 2 vertical
in the rear. So it looks like there are just enough locations!

Bill-san,
Thank you for the suggestion.
It removed my concern about ESA configuration.
