6441.0. "Performance of Ultra products" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Simon Penny) Mon Mar 03 1997 22:40

Guys,

Do we have any performance info on the Ultra SCSI products
coming over the next few months. Most of the presentation
info that I have read is either very skimpy on hard
performance data or varies widely from presentation
to presentation (e.g. throughput of KZPBA - I have seen
figures from 17MB/s up to 33MB/s in recent powerpoint
presentations)

CSS are responding to a tender for an opportunity in
Singapore and need to give a very clear idea of sustainable
data rates to disk (the target is 30MB/s to the disks I
think).

Thanks for any solid information that you can give me

I will also cross post this request in a few other places

Subject: Bandwidth of new ultra SCSI products

Simon,

I require two sets of information on the HSZ70/KZPBA and
the KZPAC.

The equipment in both configurations is as follows

Alpha Server 4100
7 x 9 Gig ultra SCSI drives in a raid 0 stripe set.

The Bandwidth shall be stated as a sustained transfer rate
to and from the disks (i.e. write and read performace in
MB/s).

1) What is the bandwidth of the HSZ70 and KZPBA systems ?

2) What is the bandwidth of the KZPAC 1 channel (backplane
RAID)?

3) What is the bandwidth of the KZPAC 3 channels (backplane
RAID) - i.e. on each of the 3 channels of the adaptor?

As performance and qualification testing is still
in progress AND these products are not yet announced
to the outside world you'll most likely not get an
answer yet.
