6398.0. "Configuration for RAID 310" by HGOVC::CHRISTSANG () Mon Feb 17 1997 00:32

    Hello,

    I would like to inquire about the StorageWorks RAID Array 310
    Subsystem.

    I hae read the sales update on this product and understand that it
    requires ordering of 3 components :

    1. Pedestal enclosure ,etc SWXRA-Z1
    2. Platform kit, in this case, Digital Unix on Alpha, SWDKU-DA
    3. Disks.

    I understand that item 2 above include SCSI cable. Do we need to order
    (H879-AA)terminators, (H885-AA)trilink and (BN21W)Y-cable separately ?

    Also, item 2 includes a PCI-to-FWD SCSI adapter. I believe that it is
    to be used on the Alphaserver (in this case, the Alphaserver 2100A).

      Alphaserver
      2100A
                         -< H879-AA terminator
                        |
      KZPSA-BB --------<  <----- BN21W Y-cable
                        |
            BN21K  ---->|__________< H879-AA terminator
                                 | H885-AA Trilink
                            SWXRA-Z1

    Please advise if the above is valid.

    Best regards
    Chris

>> The RAID310 is terminated internally in the box. No trilink etc
>> is needed as long as the box is at the end of the SCSI chain.

>> If you don't like this you have to remove the terminator resistor
>> packs from the internal DWZZB board (inside the RAID310). And
>> terminate properly outside the RAID310

>> The adapter is a KZPSA FWD to PCI adapter.
