6391.0. "Booting off 2nd member of mirror set with NT and KZPSC" by DIBDIB::DBATES (Time for a note) Wed Feb 12 1997 10:44
I have a KZPSC 3 channel raid controller on a Alpha 2100
I have two rz26 disks, one on the first port of each of the
first two channels.
channel 0 channel 1
port
0 rz26 rz26
The two rz26 are configured as JBODs on the controller
The two rz26 are mirrored via software using NT 4.0
There are also some RZ29s configured as a RAID 5 array
The hardware configuration display shows the two rz26 as follows
scsi(1)disk(8)rdisk(0)
scsi(1)disk(9)rdisk(0)
I would like to boot off the 2nd member of the mirror set.
To do this I have removed the channel 0 port 0 rz26.
After I have done this, the hardware config reports the folowing for
the remaining disk
scsi(1)disk(32)rdisk(0)
the rest of the disks on the controllers become RAW.
Does anyone know I can boot of the 2nd mirrored disk if the first one
should fail?
Many thanks
David
