6387.0. "Seven RZ28D-VW in a BA356-KC" by QBUS::E_BURKHALTER () Mon Feb 10 1997 15:14

Another engineer worked the call below and this is the symptons.

    PROBLEM:

    SCSI poweron resets/timouts on a 2100 4/200, kzpda, ba356-kb with (7)
rz28d-v disks. The errors appear when high activity exists on the
3 system cluster in which this 2100 serves internal and the 7 external
    disks.

All componients were replaced, and parameters were adjusted on the
KZPDA with no resolve. Product engineering would not assist because
the KZPDA had not been qualified on the 4/200.

    There are (7) RZ28D-VW in a BA356-KC

    RESOLUTION:

    Remove (1) RZ28D-VW leaving (6) RZ28D-VW's and install a second
    BA35X-HF power supply.

This is from a Sales or StorageWorks article.

o The BA356-KC pedestal supports up to seven 16 bit 7200 RPMdisks.
There are no slot restrictions. The BA356-KC has 15 percent more power
    than the BA350-KB.

    Question?
    Does the BA356-KC support 7 7200 RPM (RZ28D-VW) drives?
If so is there a known problem or solution to the problem above?

Not only did you ADD power, you REMOVED one bus load. You may still be looking
at a bus problem.
