6375.0. "dilog/sq706a and rz28-va" by ATZIS3::BARTEN () Thu Feb 06 1997 03:40

    Hey,

    Need some help by connecting two RZ28M-VA to a Dilog SQ706A Controller.

    Customer has an Q-Bus system were I installed a Dilog SQ706A Controller
    - BA353 exp. Box - RZ28M-VA.

    Everything worked fine. Now I tried to connect a second RZ28M-VA into
    the BA353.
    Connected a VT-Terminal to the SQ706A first and configured the
    SCSI-Unit for the second disk.

    At Console-Prompt (KA650 V5.3 VMB 2.7) >>> sho device showup with DUB0
    + DUB1.

    Booting or Mounting a RZ other than SCSI-ID=0 didn't work.
    Booting DUB1 shows with "Transaction result is unknown".

    Mounting under VMS (V5.4-2) gives errorlog entry: Invalid command
                                                      Invalid msg length

    Can somebody helps me with this problem/configuration??

    Thanks

    Rene

    What do the suppliers of the Dilog controller say? Have they configured
    a system similarly?

6375.3LEFTY::CWILLIAMSCD or not CD, that's the questionFri Feb 07 1997 07:435
    Considering Dilog seems to be out of business, it may be a little hard
    to figure out what is going on....

    It still doesn't seem to me that this should be down to DEC to fix!

: Can somebody helps me with this problem/configuration??

   Depending on which Q-bus system is involved, you'll need an HSDxx,
   or an HSDxx and a KFQSA. Given the KA650 CPU reference, you'll need
   both, as this CPU does not have integrated DSSI.) There is no other
   Digital-supported way to `directly connect' SCSI disks to a Q-bus.
