6373.0. "KZPSC B01&D01 on Tl8200, XCR error and system hang..." by QCAV02::NRHEGDE (T&E or R&D !?) Tue Feb 04 1997 04:34

Hello  !
 We tried install second KZPSC on TL8200. But when we tried to boot
console was giving continuously XCR errors , Bus reset and system is hanging.

Following is the hardware /firmware details of Turbolaser 8200 machine
Both the controllers are tested individually on diff system and are okay.

F/w rev of the CPU- CONSOLE version 3.1-6 (from v3.6 f/w cdrom)
kzpsc #1 (old one) rev. B01, f/w version 2.19;
kzpsc #2 (new one) rev. D-01 f/w version 2.36;
The version of dunix is 3.2d-1;

Now I have following  question:

1. Can we have two KZPSC's of different HW revsions on the same system?

2. Can we have two kzpsc's with different firmware revision on the same system?

3. Can we upgrade the KZPSC Rev.B01 firmware to 2.36 if we have to have the
   same s/w revision?

 thx in advance.

> 1. Can we have two KZPSC's of different HW revsions on the same system?

 YES. However, rev D01 is recommended.

> 2. Can we have two kzpsc's with different firmware revision on the same system?

 YES. However, rev V2.36 is recommended.

 YES. F/W can be upgraded from V2.19 to V2.36. This will not "upgrade"
 the board to a "true" rev D01 KZPSC. There was a hardware change when
 going from rev C01 to rev D01, which required a new etch to control
 a possible "noise glitch" on the KZPSC. Although this noise glitch was
 rarely seen, it was determined that a hardware ECO was necessary.

* What size cache module is installed on each KZPSC ?
   (4MB, 16MB, 32MB)

* Any Digital Unix patches applied to the system ?

6373.232MB cache and OSF360-350135 installed...QCAV02::NRHEGDET&E or R&D !?Tue Feb 11 1997 20:4219
Hi!

 Thanks for reply. Please note the following details

>* What size cache module is installed on each KZPSC ?
>   (4MB, 16MB, 32MB)

 32MB cache is installed on both KZPSC's

>* Any Digital Unix patches applied to the system ?

 We have applied OSF360-350135 (xcr timeout patches )

 If ECO is required can I get the details of that or from where can I get
ECO or details (On network)

 Thx & Regards
