6367.0. "KZPSC and Mixed Wide/Narrow drives?" by UTRTSC::VISSER () Sun Feb 02 1997 14:43
One of our customers has THREE[3] AS1000's with KZPSC RAID controllers
(fw 2.36, 3-channel) and external BA356-shelves, containing RZ29B's
(fw 0014/0016) and RZ28M's (0568/0616) in both WIDE and NARROW
variants. (mixed in each SHELF).
He claims, when he powers down the system and then the shelves and
then powers on the shelves FIRST, then the system, that MANY of the
drives have the FLD-status (amber LED, RCU shows them as FLD too).
Fault Management in KSPSC enabled.
After power-on it takes the KZPSC's a VERY LONG TIME (appr. 1/2 hour)
to find out drives are FLD'd.
As long he does NOT power-off the system (e.g. reboot) then there is
no problem.
My question:
Is it VALID to mix various SUPPORTED drives in WIDE and NARROW variants
on the SAME SCSI-channel and in the SAME BA356 with a KZPSC?
Jan Visser.
