Excuse-me if this question has already been asked, but
I need help to give an official answer to a customer, about the
following config problem in a mixed cluster, with 2 star coupleurs (SC):

4 alpha systems (OVMS V6.2-1H3) with 2 CIPCA in each system,
connected to the two SC (one CIPCA/SC)

4 pairs of HS40 in dual-redundant, each HSJ40 of each pair
connected to a different SC.

2 VAX 6600 (OVMS V6.1) with 2 CIXCD each.

Is it supported to connect the VAX systems on the two star coupleurs
in this configuration, or V6.1 does not support this dual 'rail'?

   Beware: official answers come from the SPD and from the VMScluster
   Product Manager, *not* from engineers in a notes conference.

   Pre-V6.0 (V5.4-3 and later?) releases support multiple VMScluster
   paths, such as multiple CI adapters on the same node.

   Beware of connecting the HSJ SCSI busses across HSJs located across
   the star couplers -- that is not something I'd assume was a supported
   configuration.   See 2422.*, 3871.*, and 4002.*, among others.  (This
   does not mean that shadowset volumes cannot reside across HSJs across
   star couplers, that should work fine.)

   I'd tend to configure the inter-HSJ SCSI links on the same star,
   and the shadowset across stars.

	From the latest OpenVMS Cluster Software SPD (29.78.14) for V6.2-1H3 and V7.1:


	'HSJ and HSC series disk and tapes can be dual
	pathed between controllers on the SAME or DIFFERENT
	star couplers.'

    This (old) configuration limitation was removed a while back.
    (Apparently, we haven't updated some of the documentation.)
