5276.0. "real crash dump is ok" by LEMAN::NEUWEILER () Fri Apr 04 1997 08:50

The log of the shutdown on the DEC7000 is as follow:

**** Boot driver initialization routine returned failure
**** Memory dump canceled. IOVector = 00000000, Flags = 02016074

CPU:0 Halt Code = 5
Halt instruction executed.

During another boot the DEC7000 crashed and did suceed to write a
crash dump.

**** OpenVMS (TM) Alpha Operating System V7.1 -BUGCHECK ****
** Code=0000036C: PROCGONE, Process not in system
** Crash CPU: 00 Active CPU's: 00000003

It looks as only the shutdown causes a problem.

    I'll assume this is a follow-on to 5274.*.

    As a suggetion, try initializing the processor after the
    shutdown. (This is an old VAX trick for clearing out a
    crufty processor state.)
