The log of the shutdown on the DEC7000 is as follow: **** Boot driver initialization routine returned failure **** Memory dump canceled. IOVector = 00000000, Flags = 02016074 CPU:0 Halt Code = 5 Halt instruction executed. During another boot the DEC7000 crashed and did suceed to write a crash dump. **** OpenVMS (TM) Alpha Operating System V7.1 -BUGCHECK **** ** Code=0000036C: PROCGONE, Process not in system ** Crash CPU: 00 Active CPU's: 00000003 ** Current Process = STACONFIG.EXE **** Starting compressed selective memory dump at 3-APR-1997 19:49... ................. ...Complete **** SYSTEM SHUTDOWN COMPLETE It looks as only the shutdown causes a problem.

I'll assume this is a follow-on to 5274.*. As a suggetion, try initializing the processor after the shutdown. (This is an old VAX trick for clearing out a crufty processor state.) |
