375.0. "TCP/IP over X25 and RIP protocol" by CHEFS::16.190.208.238::WorkBenchUser () Wed May 07 1997 09:42

Hello!

We are trying to connect a DecAdvantage Server to a router with TCP/IP over
X25 (TCP for Streams over X25 on NWP).
After some configuration problems in the router it works, but now we want to
use the RIPII protocol in order to no keep all the routes static. We have
started the routed deamon, from the TCP for Streams startup script.

The result is:

- From the DecAdvantage system we can see with netstat -ar all the routes
defined in the router.

- In the router routing table only if we reestart the router we can see the
routes defined in the DecAdvantage system. After 90 seconds (the deletion
timer defined in the router after no more info about one route), the
DecAdvantage routes disappear.
It seems that the DecAdvantage system is hearing the RIP commands, but only
send his information when starts.

My questions are:

- How we can configure WIN/TCP for Streams and the routed deamon in order to
inform every 30 seconds all the routes defined?

- Also we have seen in the router configuration the poison reverse protocol
active. I 've searched in the Win/tcp documentation about this, but I haven't
find anything. Is possible to configure the poison reverse protocol?

Kind Regards

Jordi Must

Hi

Which release of WINTCP are you using.

Normally RIPII routed send his routing data every 30 seconds. I do not understand why you seen the
information after you rebooted the router. This would mean that the DECadvanatage server is
sending his information.
Can you check with a line spy if the server is sending its information every 30 seconds???
I do not know what the poison reverse protocol is, may be it has something to do with the problem
