Thanks for the RTFNC (Notes Conference), John ;-)
(I swear I did an AltaVista internal search on
"vxworks and de450 and axppci33" before starting this topic.)
The latest situation seems to be "buy DE435" or "upgrade to 5.2b", or
did the "patch" (179.12) ever materialize?
The customer would accept a patch without support, as long as he gets
sources.

| The source code for the DEC ethernet drivers is proprietary. It's only
provided as part of the Board Porting Kit. It's not on the normal
binary kit. Buying the Board Porting Kit just to get the tulip ethernet
driver(s) is probably an expensive option.
The other issue is that patching old versions of VxWorks with support
for new ethernet drivers is not easy. Typically, a new ethernet driver
involves not only a new driver but changes to the BSP's, network
loaders, header files and to a couple other miscellaneous places. It
would be a very complicated patch which would be a nightmare to
support. We decided early on not to go down there.
VxWorks V5.2B contains support for the DE435 and DE450 boards. V5.2C,
now in field test, contains support for existing boards and adds
support for the DE500-AA, DE500-BA and DE520-AA boards. As always,
patch kits for older releases of VxWorks will not be available. Your
customers must upgrade. Applications for field test sites are still
being accepted. Send mail to HELIX::REALTIME.
