1432.0. "Thanksging en masse!" by GVPROD::MEYER (Nick, DTN 7-821-4172) Fri May 16 1997 11:26

    Howzabout a few prayers of thanksgiving, for the sudden 180 degree
    changes in morale in this dear old company of ours, which has become
    very evident to us all via notes & via all the overwhelmingly positive
    feedback from Wednesday's DVN broadcast.

    Long may it last, as we need cheerfulnes in the work place as well.

    As we pray in chuch on Sundays for our leaders & government, so we we
    should include our captains of industry for good guidance & being able
    to achieve our new goals. As Bruce claflin said the problem is "us" &
    (in theory) this should be easy to fix. However we need to pray for
    changes of mind-sets, not just for the top, nor just the grass roots, but
    for those (oh so many) layers in the middle.

    We all need help, so get those prayer stools out, & let's get to it!

    Praise the Lord & pray for us all...

1432.2Thanks, Lord - we put this company in Your hands.HARMNY::HOFFMANFri May 16 1997 13:399
Nick, I join with you in asking God, in the wonderful name of Jesus,
to bless the work of our hands and minds here at Digital. May He bring us
to a new era of growth and blessing, as we function where He has put us in this
great company.

Praise God!

Dave

Let's hope that this really bears fruit, and is a change from the
previous philosophy of "the firings will continue until morale improves."

The title can be corrected by the author:

	Position to .0, then say SET NOT/TITLE="Thanksgiving en masse!"

1432.4Rogation Collect for Commerce and Industry (BCP)COVERT::COVERTJohn R. CovertFri May 16 1997 16:518
	Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ in his earthly life
	shared our toil and hallowed our labor: Be present with
	thy people where they work; make those who carry on the
	industries and commerce of this land responsive to thy
	will; and give to us all a pride in what we do, and a
	just return for our labor; through Jesus Christ our Lord,
	who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the
	Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
1432.5Cheerfulness abounds...GVPROD::MEYERNick, DTN 7-821-4172Sat May 17 1997 12:4010
    Thankyou John for that tip. I too was aware of that saying.

    I'm also aware that in some countries, there were layoffs of management
    like "50 staff in the level 10 to 15", however I don't suppose it
    happened in the USA. But as in all things, I could be wrong.

    Back to the original note: The morale has improved considerably on both
    sides of the pond & we should be very grateful, as this will engender
    better things.
