Hello
We have a customer that is installing an EDI Server running DEC EDI
V3.1A with X.400 (MAILbus 400) Communication. They intend to
interconnect to a local VAN named Interchange.
Interchange, for the time being, uses an old 84-based X.400 MTA. The
software they utilize was developed by Telstra (at that time the name
was AOTC) and they use X.400 envelope fields to "inject" EDI-related
information, such as: document type, trading partner name, etc.
In order for DEC EDI to interoperate with them it would be nice to have
the capability to set certain X.400 envelope fields (e.g.: Subject,
DDA's, etc) based upon the EDI document type, trading partners, etc.
I've looked over all DEC EDI documentation but I could not locate such
capability.
1) Is it possible?
2) If YES, How?
3) If NO, is there any standard or accepted guideline that back us up
on this?

| Hi,
it's not possible what you want, or at least what the VAN likes to see.
It is also my believe that is it very unusual to work that way.
What I don't know if there are some quotes in the standards about
this.Maybe someone else knows..

There is or shortly will be a version of the pedi Gateway on V3.1A
that lets you supply a subject. That's all though.

| Hello guys
I just saw the "readme" file describing the PEDI patch. This correction
only allows us to introduce a Subject field with FIXED content. My
customer is interested in allowing the Subject field content to be
driven by certain EDI document characteristics. Example: Include the
EDI Document Type into the Subject Field. Will this ever be possible???

Allowing a fixed subject restores (in fact slightly exceeds) former
behaviour.
THere are no product plans to expand functionality. Is your customer
keen enough to fund a consulting assignment to develop it?
