3021.0. "decedi_arch and defaults" by UTRTSC::SMEETS (Workgroup support) Fri Feb 21 1997 09:34

Hi,

DEC/EDI V3.1A.

Yesterday I've posted and fetched some documents succesfully throught DEC/EDI and
wanted to use secondary archiving.

So I entered decedi_arch -v

and was suprised that nothing was selected to get archived.

Looking in the decedi_arch_19970220 file in /var/adm/decedi/arch_reports I
noticed that besides the defaults for -c, -o and -f which are documented, there
are also defaults for -a and -b which aren't documented.

-b is the current day
-a is 01-Jan-1970

So the default decedi_arch command looks like:

decedi_arch -c t -o /var/adm/decedi/backup/DECEDI_<today's date YYYYMMDD> -f ""
-b <today's date DDMMYYYY> -a 01011970

Martin

    If the below text from the decedi_arch man page is not on your system
    then this problem has already been fixed. Please let me know if you
    think the text below is not sufficient.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    -b date             Introduces the end date (in DDMMYYYY format) of the
                        selection window (i.e. entries must have been created
                        before this date to be selected).
                        By default, all entries up to midnight yesterday (i.e.
                        ignoring todays entries) will be archived.
    -a date             Introduces the start date (in DDMMYYYY format) of the
                        selection window (i.e. entries must have been created
                        after this date to be selected).
                        By default, all entries starting from the first entry
                        will be archived.
3021.2V3.1A user guide is not up to date, man pages areUTRTSC::SMEETSWorkgroup supportFri Feb 21 1997 13:3312
Hi David,
I didn't look in the man pages. I just looked in the V3.1A User Guide and there
the default values for -a and -b aren't mentioned.
I've just read the man page and the default are mentioned as you stated.
So only the documentation (User Guide) needs to be updated.
Regards,
Martin
