Hi! Got the same question as Martin in note 2986. The reply in note 2986.2: "They say upgrade to Oracle Rdb V7 but we have not tested against Oracle Rdb V7 nor have we any plans to do so." is it a statement from Digital? Is RDB end-of-life with EDI for UNIX? /Jan-Ake [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

Hi! I really need a quick answer on my question. The customer has decided to use RDB, even if our recommendations was to use Oracle. The reason to choose RDB was due to some translation of an old RDB license which costed less than an Oracle license. I've phoned Oracle for UNIX 4.0x and RDB 6.1x support and they haven't been able to give a answer yet. This configuration is going to be set up in one or two weeks and if RDB really is a dead-end we have the option to change it NOW and not facing this later on. Jan-Ake, There will be no quick answer for this. Since the sell off of RDB ro Oracle it has been ever more difficult to obtain the latest RDB kits. Representatives from EDI Engineering have been talking to Oracle about improving matters but this has proven to be a very slow process. Contact Duncan for an 'official' answer. Mark | |||||

The latest on Oracle RDB V7 for UNIX is: Oracle failed to ship us a kit :-( Still waiting to see if this was our ordering failure or their failure to fulfil correctly. We could be weeks away from knowing the outcome of this. M |
