2985.0. "problem with HpOpenMail" by ABBEDI::GRIFFITHS () Fri Jan 24 1997 09:38
I have been doing some testing between a dec/edi (VMS) system at dec and
a customer using Hp OpenMail server (from their server it then goes into
their edi system.
The interchange arrives ok at their server, but with a space
inserted before all segments except the first one (UNB).

I have made .nbs and .x409 dumps on both the local dec/edi system
and mrx gateway system (mrx version=S2.3-004), and the space is not
inserted on our side. I also tested between our system and their normal VMS
system, and the space is not there. The conclusion is that the hp server is
somehow inserting the space. I have cross-referenced the note in the mailbus
conf., and noticed also that MRX is '84 compliant, whereas HpOpenMail
(latest version I think) is '88 compliant.
Has anyone had any similar experiences, and what it could be ?
regards,
Andrew

Just some more info. :-
when I send the interchange such that each record is terminated by a
linefeed, instead of linefeed and carriage-return - as set in the conn.
id details - the maessage is processed by Hp-openmail (no space).

Andrew
