Tom,
I have a great respect for worship traditions other than that of Friends.
I personally have been a Congregationalist (pre-United Church of Christ),
a United Methodist, and a member of a Metropolitan Community Church
(Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches). I've even
preached from the pulpits of the latter two.
The Congregationalists (now UCC), I might add, arose from the assemblies called
Independents in George Fox's day.
Sometimes in meeting I miss the sense of majesty of the high church tradition.
But more often I miss the expectancy and unpolished spontaneity when I am
in other than a Friends meeting.
