7458.0. "memory diags for DECpc LPx ??" by FIREBL::LEEDS (From VAXinated to Alphaholic) Sun Jun 01 1997 17:33

I just started getting "memory parity errors" on my DECpc LPx 466D2. I added
one 16MB simm about 4 months ago (now have a total of 24MB), but the errors
just recently started.

I haven't gone in to check seating, swap simms, etc. (yet) - Is there a
memory diag I can copy off the net to run for several hours to help
determine if any changes I make fix the problem ?? It only shows up about
every 3-4 days under normal use...

Thanks

Arlan

I just when through this same ordeal a few months ago (same model PC,
    same memory configuration!).

My problem turned out to be the SCSI disk controller board... Does the
error message indicate a memory location?

If you can find someone with a factory software load, you should be able
to make an image of the QA+ diagnostic disk that Digital ships with their
systems. QA+ did not find a problem in my case, but a SCANDISK, full
surface verification would fail fairly consistently. It's something to
    try, anyhow...

My QA+ is at home, it would be Friday before I could post a copy it for
you... Let me know if you still need it.

    Regards,
    Tom
