According to the certification matrix on akin40.ako.dec.com, it would
appear that none of the Prioris servers is certified on Windows 95.
This does not mean it cannot work; just that it is an unsupported
configuration.
Someone from Servers can outvote me. ;-)

Would not do that Bill..... It's true. After all, it's just NT4.0
with a little less security!~? ;^)

As usual..., Bill and Chet are right on target!
We do not certify "desktop OS's" on Servers! I should qualify the
term "desktop OS" as any "single CPU OS", for reference purposes.
For other testing purposes, I have run WFW and 95 across the board
without any problems. Your/Customers mileage may vary!
I don't think I follow the logic of running 95 on a Server...,
other than on the low end, single CPU systems!

| The basic logic is that they tend to be more available in-house... and
usually have more expansion slots. Very useful for testing.
I use server boxes for DVD testing - the assortment of PCI cards I need
for the testing usually won't fit into a non-server PC. All of this has
to be done on WIN95, not NT, as the drivers don't exist for NT yet.
They also tend to have fewer embedded peripherals (Video, SCSI, etc),
so the PNP logic works better.
I've never had a problem with WIN95 on our Intel-based server boxes...
the most problems came from a Starion 960, which is -supposed- to
run WIN95. It totally confused WIN95's PnP when I tried to add in
video cards - the on board HW disables, but does not vanish, so WIN95
configs it anyway!

My friend, let me introduce you to the wonderful, whacky world of...
The Customer.
This is a rare bird who confidently plugs a Win95 CD into an Alpha
Workstation, and calls support 'cos it don't work.
This bird also:
- puts the mouse on the floor, and wonders why the system doesn't
run too well when they "step on the pedal".
- uses the CD player for a coffee cup holder.
- pries all the keys off the keyboard, mixes them up, and calls
support 'cos the keys aren't all unique, and the Customer doesn't
know where they keys belong on the keyboard.
- plugs the mouse in the kb port, the kb in the mouse port, and
calls support 'cos the machine don't work.
- drops the CPU on the floor (the whole desktop box) and calls
support to complain "that the box isn't very sturdy, and rattles
when I shake it now".
- ...
want more? stay tuned.

Yes..., been there done that, I understand!
I was waxing philisophically!
It's not the first time I've heard "certified for Win95" for
"Servers".
