7441.0. "Prioris XL Server & Mylex DAC 960 PL" by VAXSPO::MOREIRA () Mon May 12 1997 17:36

Hi,

I have a local integrator that bought a Prioris XL Server 5200, without
Mylex DAC 960 card. This integrator bought a RAID Kit from Mylex wich came
with one PCI Controller Mylex DAC 960 PL (Bios V. 2.06) and disks (I don't
know sizes of these disks).

He has using Quick Launch V. 2.1 and can't see the controller. Quick
Launch loads the drivers for Mylex (DAC 960 only) but doesn't recognize
the controller and/or disks. If he boots the machine, skip the RAID
Controller Drivers load and load the software that came with Raid Controller
960 PL, he can see the controller, disks and work fine.

Does Prioris XL Server 5200 supports this controller ? Have any newer
Quick Launch to work with this controller ? Is this controller certified ?

Any information will be apreciated. Thanks in advance.

Digital only supports the DAC 960 that would be purchased from Digital.
The part numbers for the 'support' RAID controllers is at

akin40.ako.dec.com look for options. I'm not stating that it
    won't work,
but it's up to the integrator to make it work. Not digital.

BIOS v2.06? That means it's a newer type of the Mylex similar to the
	current FR-PCTAR-EA/EB/EC series.
Those boards need at least Quick Launch v2.4 to work.

	It's still however a Mylex DAC960PL where we use a DAC960PD.
And we only use certain qualified and tested versions of there BIOS and
Firmware. I can assure you that you don't want to have all of the BIOS/FW
	release they make officially available.

As Chet already pointed out, this integrator can do what he wants, but
looses his right on support. If anything goes wrong, don't call us.
Then again that is the integrators risk.
