Can someone help with this question. We're looking at putting in Adaptec 2940 scsi board to some Celebris 6200 that are just IDE. There's two kinds of 2940's the 8-bit U model and the 16 bit Ultra-Wide. Can the Ultra-Wide work with older 8-bit devices? That would allow us to not upgrade all the 8-bit devices too. while allowing us to purchase newer devices as we go along. If the 2940UW won't work we'll just go with the 2940U. Thanks Harold

re: 26031::HENRY You can run narrow SCSI devices on the 2940UW. There's a 50-pin connector on-board for that purpose. Only thing you have to watch out for (as always with SCSI) is how and where you terminate. The user guide should be very helpful in that respect. Bill | |||||
