We are having a problem with the staged systems from Digital. The
systems that the customer is getting are the Venturis FX with the 2.5
gig drive in them.
The systems are coming with two partitions. The C is configured for 1.2
gig and D as the rest.
How come the drive C is not configured for the max to 2 GIG and drive D
as the rest?
How come we just don't enable the FAT32 and have the drive as the whole
2.5 gig.
I am asking this is becuase it is causing a problem with the customers
network drive mappings. So they are having to FDISK every system/enable
FAT32 and reload everything.
I did tell them that they could just delete the logical drive D but
that would give them just a 1.2 gig drive. I know that there are other
3rd party options but need an answer from 'Digital'.
Thanks
Kevin

>How come we don't do a 2Gb and the rest...
We ship 2.1Gb disks as well... should they be FDISKed to have one 2Gb
partition and one tiny essentially useless partition? FDISK by default
splits the disk down the middle.
>How come we don't just enable the FAT32...
This might piss off the customers that want to maintain their
current backup, defrag, etc software that doesn't know about FAT32.

And also for compatibility with Windows NT (especially for the
dual-boot fans)... since NT can't see any FAT32 partitions.

The 2.5GB drives are fdisk'd as C=2.1GB and D=the rest. If you're
seeing something different, open an IPMT so that we can get
manufacturing to look into the problem.
