7417.0. "ZX and HX Servers - NT4 Shutdown Problems" by NNTPD::"[email protected]" (Steve Kanowjetski) Fri Apr 18 1997 04:05

Hi everybody.....

We have a situation where a number of Prioris ZX6xxx and HX6xxx Servers are
experiencing problems while shutting down. These servers have mylex pci raid
controllers and are newly installed machines.

Basically what happens during shutdown is all the icons disappear and the NT
logo remains in the background. The mouse still works, but all disk activity
stops.

If the engineer on site stops the mylex monitor utility, then system shutsdown
ok. This problem does not arise with NT3.51.

We have tried the most recent mylex utility/driver kit v1.05, but to no avail.

Has anybody else seen this or heard of this ? It definately sounds like a
typical
driver problem, but before I pursue it I was just wondering if any other poor
soul has come across this.

All the best

7417.1check the driver.PCBUOA::WHITECParrot_TrooperFri Apr 18 1997 08:2713

the driver for the mylex that ships with NT needs to be replaced
if not already with the one in the 1.05 kit. I don't have a system
handy to verify the revision of the new driver, but I 'think' it
is 4.05k?? The k designates the newer driver. I believe the
file is larger than the older one as well.....somewhere around
11 k vs the 9k or so, for the one that ships with NT4.0......

Go to the WINNT/system32/drivers and check the properties of the
DAC960NT.sys file...... if it is not the version with k on the end,
    replace it.
