7404.0. "Celebris FP590 video drivers, driving me nuts" by TROOA::DAL_MOLIN () Mon Apr 07 1997 10:39

    I have a Celebris FP590 with an S3 864 video card. Using Encarta and my
    CD rom based tax program windows blows up with and Invalid Truetype
    Font detected. I'm running wfw 3.11. I think upgrading my video drivers
    might help. Does anyone know where there is an explanation of what
    the video drivers in the PCBU desktop webpage are and do. All I cand
    find are cryptic one liners. Also which driver should I use (the flat
    memory ones sound good).

    Suffering from data overload, need information preferrably knowledge
    and wisdom:

    Thankfully yours

    Does not think your problem has anything to do with the Video/Video
    drivers. Check your fonts.
    But anyway, the drivers for the S3 Vision 864 can be found on PCBU web
    page http://pcbu.ako.dec.com/
    Select Desktop - Options - Video - Vision864 and download the
    VS86150F.EXE -  WFW 3.11 drivers v1.50.02.

7404.2Problem seems to be fixedTROOA::DAL_MOLINMon Apr 07 1997 12:108
    I loaded the new drivers and the problem seems to have gone away. it
    seems that the root cause is the switching from multimedia ie. running
    an avi file and back to normal operation screws up the font display...
    atleast that's what the tax software support folks told me.

    Cheers,

    are you sure that you didn't get the information from the IRS? (given
    their spectacular success rate at supplying the Right Answers To The
    Little People...)

Actually, that is indeed a common problem - I used to see it a couple of years
back when I ran WFW 3.11 on my Celebris FP590.
