7389.0. "Token ring on Celebris GL6200" by SNOFS1::16.153.96.192::powellronald (Australia!) Tue Mar 18 1997 21:04

Can any one confirm that there are no Token ring cards certified for use
with the Celebris GL 6200. Bill, I have tried the options database and
just got the "null search return" message which I assume means no TR cards
are certified. The reason we need to know is we have two large customers
using token ring, converting from being IBM sites to DIGITAL. (Australian
military and Jupiters casino) If no, has there been or is there a policy
statement I can refer to stating that we will not be supporting or testing
TR after a certain model or date?

 Many thanks.

 Ron Powell.

    Ron,

The only hits I got from the database for Token-Ring were for a Proteon
card, last tested on Venturis 5xxx and Celebris XL 5xxx. What you need
is a statement from product management... I don't think they read this
    notesfile.

    What's Token-Ring? (just kidding) ;-)

Bill, do you have a contact I can ask about TR cards?

 Ron.

We have tested the 3COM PCI Tokenlink Velocity on the Celebris GL
6200(also known as Nantucket). We ran endurance tests with Win NT 4.0,
NT 3.51, and Win 95 using a file I/O transfer program. Protocols tested
for each operating system were: IPX/SPX, NETBEUI, and TCP/IP.

A tested options statement was distributed about one week ago, but
would not yet be up on a web site. If you would like a copy, please
send your EMAIL address(VMS or Internet) and I will forward you a copy.
