Hi Ben,
Yes, we are investigating a similar problem. If the problem is what we
think it is, movement of the riser card from a working to nonworking
machine should make the bad machine work.
For this particular problem, we're trying to come up with a customer
installable firmware upgrade.
Thanks for the report, and your added feedback would be appreciated.

| We received 3 Celebris GL ST 6200s and two have dead ethernet
controllers. We are currenyly working around the problem by using some
DE435 and DE205 cards while we await an answer from F/S. This appears
to be a very real problem and not just a fluke.

worked for this site. Would anyone working issues with Celebris GL

7381.5 | Details please. | SNOFS1::16.153.96.192::powellronald | Australia! | Tue Mar 18 1997 21:11 | 6 |
| Bill, Can you give us any details on the 21142 issue. We are getting
one or two calls a week with this problem. Some FIS's machines work fine,
others not at all. Has the fix mentioned in .4 worked. If so, I will have
the Australian MCS guys notified.
Ron Powell.

Hi Ron,
Yes, the fix worked. I've tested it at yet another internal site. As
I said, please have these cases escalated. MCS should be able to
handle it shortly. I know there is ongoing work to make the utilities
more usable (and foolproof) by end-users. The present solution is
being distributed to major system staging sites.

7381.7 | Old driver not being replaced? | NUTS2U::LITTLE | ATG/EOS/Object Infrastructure/me | Wed Mar 19 1997 12:17 | 10 |
| I had a problem under Win95 when I first loaded the drivers.
Apparently I must have loaded old drivers or something similar as the
board would not function at all, even after installing the latest and
greatest drivers. What finally worked was removing the device with the
device manager and deleting some apparently old drivers, especially one
with a .dos extension, and then rebooting and letting Win95 install new
drivers. I wish I had more details, but that is the best I can recall.

7381.8 | some added information | CALDEC::BOSKLOPPER | | Wed Mar 19 1997 22:56 | 11 |
| As mentioned in .6 was my site and I was the originator of this note.
In my case it worked fine and we got all the 6200 up. What I received
was a beta version of the solution and is not for distribution.
Its a bootable floppy what reprograms the control chip of the ethernet
controller.As bill mentioned in .6 is escalate your problem so they
will earlier have a field solution ready.
It gives you an idea what kind of fix it is, because did was not
explained here before.
