7372.0. "OS/2 Warp on LPX" by ECRJ06::MARCIA_L () Tue Mar 04 1997 13:19

    Hi,

I have a customer who is working with a DECpc LPX 566 (811WW).
The video board is a Diamond Viper PCI, and the monitor, a PCXBV-PC.

When he tries to install, from net, the client for OS/2, he gets a
problem at the first input data screen, after reboot. The display
turns to black, as if it was in power saving state. But it seems that
the installation proceeds, because when he press return, it's possible
to hear the Hard Disk working.

Although it is happening, monitor's led does'nt change its color and he
press any key nothing is shown in the screen.

He tried to disable power saving (at the monitor, changed it to off).
When the screen turned to black, he restarted the machine and tried to
use VGA driver. Nothing makes it to work properly.

    OS/2 Server V. 4.0
    Client: OS/2 Warp 3.0 (full Win OS/2)

Does anybody knows anything about it? Or experienced anything similar
to that? I can post more details if necessary, OK?

    Any help will be appreciated,

    Thanks in advance,

    Marcia

Go to the diamond support site:
    http://www.diamondmm.com/general/site-search.html
and search for os/2...there's information there.

Maybe, that is the solution: (I'm going to ask the customer to try it)

"Whenever I load a Seamless or Full Screen Win-OS/2 Full session, my
computer locks up after 2 minutes. What can I do to correct the
    problem?

This problem occurs because the Display Power Management for the video
card is loaded. To prevent this from locking the computer Display Power
Management needs to be disabled. To do this, check Win-OS/2 object DOS
Settings. Take note of the path of the DOS_AUTOEXEC. Edit this
AUTOEXEC.BAT. Delete the line that loads DMPS.EXE into memory. Make
sure that both sessions, Win-OS/2 Seamless and Full Screen, are not
loading a different version of the AUTOEXEC.BAT"

Thank you once more for the pointer!
