| based on other replies seen here (and the win95 conference); I would
check on the firmware rev on the drive.
also, check the SCSI ID (I dunno what an fr-pcxat-aj is, so I can't
say if it's SCSI or not) and make sure that you don't have an ID
conflict..

7329.2 | SCSI address is ok, how do I get the f/w rev? | SNOFS1::16.153.96.192::powellronald | Australia! | Mon Jan 27 1997 16:20 | 8 |
| The drive is supposedly a Sony SDT 7000 type of DAT. The
documentation that comes with the drive states it is a 8/16 Gb DAT,
the only specs I have found indicate it is a 4/8 Gb DAT with about
a 2x data transfer rate- it is SCSI but as for confirming the rest,
I don't know. How do you get the firmware rev out of the DAT drive
if the o/s cannot see the drive? The SCSI address is OK, it is on
5.

7329.3 | Maybe a re-load of the Service pack. | PCBUOA::WHITEC | Parrot_Trooper | Mon Jan 27 1997 19:01 | 7 |

The firmware is only a concern for the SDT5000. If the SDT5000
is being seen, then it's a problem with the SP... Have you checked
to see if the SDT7000 is a tested/qualified/supported drive on the
Venturis? PCBU.AKO.DEC.COM.

7329.4 | try the NT notes conference | BSS::PROCTOR_R | Sniffing the floral arrangement | Mon Jan 27 1997 19:55 | 7 |
| duh.. just checked the title.
be sure and have a crack at decwet::windows-nt for late breaking
developments. and as Chet pointed out, make sure that the SDT7000 is
supported under 3.51; you may wind up as an NT V4.0 user...

The first thing to do is look in the registry
and see if the hardware is working. Use regedt32 to
look at
Hardware
devicemap
scsi
Scsiport x
SCSIbus x
TargetID x
look to see what NT sees the drive as. I can help given this information.
