    I upgraded mine a while ago with no particular problem, going
    "by the book." I'll try to remember to take a look and refresh
    my memory, to see if there is anything notable that might be
    non-obvious. I did have to set one jumper, as I recall, but
    I had no trouble finding it.

    I looked up the part nummber and what you have is the DECpc XL, not the
    Celebris XL. There is no J40 jumper on the board so the boot block is
    always enabled.

    If you look back on the PCBU support page you'll see that the DECpc XL
    BIOS rev. level is at 1.23 - that is what you need to load.

    David.
7327.6Confused - but I'll try it!AXIS::CLENDENINTue Jan 28 1997 21:556
    	Thanks! Very confusing - the boot up window identifies the system
    as a CELEBRIS XL590 and in fact it's stamped on the tower's face. So
    one would assume....... I'll try the XL BIOS. Thanks again.

7327.7 If you're still reading.....AXIS::CLENDENINTue Jan 28 1997 22:288
    	I lied. I rebooted again and in fact it does say DECpc XL 590 V1.21
    However the face plate does say CELEBRIS. Also an F2 at bios setup time
    says Phoenix BIOS v1.03. Never judge a book by it's cover. I'm still
    curious to know why the V1.23 BIOS in PCBU's soft library says it is for
    the "486 to pentium overdrive chip". Surely this not a 486 motherboard?

    Re. the 1.23 BIOS - I think the listing was to specifically call out
    the fix (which was to allow for P24T overdrives chips).

    The 1.23 is to allow a 486 to upgrade to a Pentium, we left out the
    word upgrade after 486.
