I like the new layout and navigation capabilities; the web site is really easy
to use, and stuff is (usually) easy to find - as long as you browse from a PC.

I want to second the replies calling for a text-only *alternative*; Lynx still
is the easiest/fastest/often only way when your're at a customer. It's easy to
find a VT terminal and a phone, you only need to bring your modem with you ;-)

As far as the radio buttons are concerned - they are definitely better than
pulldown menus, because (in the case of a limited number of choices) you can see
all choices without clicking at the menu first.

And pleeeaaaase make the documentation section more complete. I'm sure the
manuals were made from electronic sources, so put at least the PostScript
versions into the file area. There are just too many 'TBD' links in this area -
especially for hardware that is one or two years 'old'.

Thanks for listening,
Hans.

By popular request, I've whipped together a very quick and no frills
front end to the PCBU Engineering Support site.

    http://pcbu.ako.dec.com/text.htm

This is accessible from a link at the bottom of
http://pcbu.ako.dec.com/ if your browser does not support frames. If
it does support frames and you want the text interface, there is a link
at the top of the page that first comes up on the right content frame.

I'll try to keep this as up to date as the frames front end.

Regarding the documentation links with TBD, my intent is to delete them
as I find them. I don't expect to be getting any more old docs, but
who knows, maybe someone will surprise me and send me some.

I've checked this interface using LYNX from my VMS machine and it seems
to be mostly okay. The content pages are unchanged and use tables
heavily for formatting. Since my LYNX doesn't understand tables, the
formatting looks terrible, but the content is still accessible. I
don't plan to do much more work to make a text only interface. I hope
    this will suffice.

    Hope this helps,

    /Bill

The documentation holes are being addressed. The doc team
was hit by close to 100% attritian of key position in the past
year. Replacement reqs were put on hold in Q496 thru mid Q297.
Been spending all my time in the past year backfilling the
holes myself working projects 100% full time, and recruiting/hiring
and training the 50% of the time. We should be back to
Fall 96 strength by mid Q497, if I survive.

We are also in process of putting together a PC Product Support
Information CD for PPC, AWSP, and MCS use. The first issue will
be release this week and we will do quarterly revisions. The
CD will help Bill Lin fill in some doc gaps on his WWW site.
