5968.11Memory expansion in Starion i series Pentium 90?GANTRY::ALLBERYJimTue Apr 29 1997 10:2810
    I have a Starion 600i currently running with 16MB of memory (8MB on the
    mother board, plus two 4MB SIMMs). I'd like to add memory, but can't
    find my book that lists any restrictions. What are the requirements?
    Do I need to fill both slots? If I fill both, do the SIMMs have to be
    the same size. I'd like to get to 40 MB (or more). I'd prefer to go
    with a 32MB SIMM (and keep one of the 4MB, if it works), than replacing
    the two 4MB SIMMs with two 16MB SIMMs.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jim Allbery

    Jim,

    I believe you need to fill both slots with a matched set of either
    parity or non-parity fast page mode 72-pin 70ns SIMMs. Sounds like
    2 16's is the way to go.

    A check of our web pages (which I guess I should have thought to do
    first) confirmed .11.
