235.0. "Windows NT 4.0, Notes 4.13 Problems" by ZPOVC::LAICHAN () Fri May 02 1997 09:26
Hi there,
Appreciate if someone can help in the problems that we have
encountered.
ENVIRONMENT
An AS4100 5/400 with 512 MB RAM and 6 x 2.1 narrow drive RAID 5 running
NT 4.0 and Lotus Notes 4.13 with 450 users in a token ring SPX
environment. The whole network is running token ring SPX with more than
100 Netware Servers. There are altogether 16 Notes servers, with 15
Intel base servers on OS/2 and one on NT (Intel, Compaq) servers.
PROBLEM
However, for the Alpha server that we have setup, the Notes server hung
after running for a while with an error on the AUPDALL. After we stopped
the AUPDALL process the Notes server continue to run. After about an hour
later, another application error message appeared as "ACHONOS". We
couldn't find this process from the task manager.
We've tested this same server with about 11 users for about a day before
and we didn't encounter this error. Can the load of 450 users cause
such a problem? The customer told us that the Intel Notes server with
NT 4.0 and Notes 4.11 has been very stable for the past few months
where the two processes, AUPDALL and ACHONOS, are running fine. Does it
mean that NT 4.0 with Notes 4.11 will work in Alpha platform too as in
the case of the Intel server? We intend to re-install NT 4.0 with
Lotus Notes 4.11. However, we are not sure if this can solve the
problem.
Anyone has encountered this problem in the Alpha environment before??
Do we need to set any parameters for the 450 users load?
Appreciate any suggestions, pointers and information.
Thanks a million for your help.
Regards,
Lee
