I have a customer who has an application they wrote for Lotus Notes. It pretty much puts in requests to various LNotes databases and receives the responses (data) and processes them. It also takes in data from another application and populates LN databases. They use VC++, Watcom, and IBM's HC+ to integrate with the LNotes APIs. They want to port this application to Alpha and use it with Domino on Alpha; since they are very impressed with the performance results we posted, even if the results were only for mail users. Is it safe to say that using VC++ on Alpha NT, they will be able to use LNotes APIs with no problems? Are there hooks in Watcom to Lotus Notes API's that are not available with VC++? Does anyone know whether Watcom will be available on Alpha NT? We will be giving them a test server to try it all out; but I want to assure that Lotus Notes APIs are available on Alpha NT without any restrictions, and once they recompile/possibly modify their source code (minor) that it should work. 222.1 | I'll confirm with iris | HYDRA::EGGIMANN | Wed Feb 12 1997 15:26 | 11
Hi Yasemin, I'll confirm in a separate note to Iris, but the vc++ api should be consistent and the partner should see no difference on Alpha. I'll also see where this api exists (on the v4.1 release it was on a separate sdk and not on the gold cds) Once we get your partner the api, let me know if they run into -any- incompatibilities. I confirmed with Iris that the Notes C and C++ APIs include libraries for NT/Alpha which can be used with Visual C++. It should be fully compatible with the Intel libraries. You can pull the libraries from http://www.lotus.com/devtools Pete
