[rdb v6.1-04, alpha vms v6.2 + patches from note 9.166]
Are there any known issues with the monitor process hanging
with "no open channels" ? Any idea how a monitor could
lose all channels ?
Customer was doing normal operations, monitor was holding a
lock that blocked all processes, but no RMU/SHOW STAT stall
messages information was checked. Customer attempted to
STOP/ID the monitor process after the an Rdb shutdown hung
to no avail and finally rebooted the system. Customer's
normal operations included a COBOL job doing database
record deletions from a procedure running under DECscheduler
(which would not SCHED ABORT because it was apparently
blocked). Customer said "CDA" showed "no open channels"
(but presumably he means SDA?). Any ideas ?
Regards,
rcs

was the process marked delete pending? perhaps all of the files
where already closed and the process was stuck during the rundown.
