| Hi Chris,
There is bus service to Boulder from DIA. There are tours to Estes
Park, also. The bus service between DIA and Boulder is pretty regular,
hourly I believe. It is a long ride and may cost a few dollars. There
are several tours that go to Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National
Park, but I have no information on them.

| When I was at CU-Boulder, the bus was the ONLY way for a poor
student to travel to Denver (DIA wasn't around yet). The service was
regular, reliable, comfortable and not very expensive.

2417.3 | too many people/too many permits.... | CSC32::C_BENNETT | | Wed May 07 1997 08:46 | 19 |
| Does anyone know if the hitching is reliable and safe in the RMNP?
I ran into a person during one of my 4 day backpacking trip on
Longs he was returning from a 5 dayer and needed a ride 6 miles down
the road - he had already done 35 on his own so - no problem - I
was going that way anyway... Normally I don't give rides...
I don't know if hitch- hiking is permited in the park...
Note that if you plan on backpacking in park or camping RMNP
this will requires permits permits permits...
Permits are issued march 1 and usually the good dates/trails go
fast... If you plan on backpacking around and camping where-ever-
RMNP isn't the place to go - rangers will check permits if they
see a backpack...
Nice park but frankly I am getting tired of the permit hassle and
the people people people in the park. Have fun anyway...

| Absolutely right about the permits. We've had to decide exactly where
we want to camp and on which nights and book spots in the camp sites -
no flexibility at all.
The bus from DIA to Boulder looks good and is only $8 one way.
I've given up on any other public transport and have given in to hiring
a car for pretty much the whole time I'm over there.
Thanks for all the replies.
Chris
