The latest (maybe) restauraunt in town is Mi Casa Su Casa de Howard,
on No. 31st. on the West Side. It is in a small wood frame house on
the east side of the street, between Colorado and Pikes Peak. The best
way to get to it is from the back of the Wendy's parking area to the
east of the building. The place is owned by Howard Smith, of Howard's
Barbeque fame. He had to move (another story, but the short of it is
that his location was bought out by a fast puke, I mean food, chain which
will remain nameless but whose initials are Mc), and bought the family
restauraunt across the street, as well as the house containing Mi Casa...

If you like Vallejo's, then you will love this place. It is managed by
Manuel Vallejo, who decided to leave his family establishment to run one
of his own. The food has the same great taste as the original - not too
hot but wonderfully spicy - their salsa is the best in town, as well as
the chili rellenos (the Thursday special). In addition to the
rellenos, I have tried the cheese enchiladas (my litmus test for good
Mexican food), and the tamales with green chile. All were superb, and
my family attests to the fine quality of other dishes. As if excellent
food is not enough, the staff makes an extra effort to provide good
service. This is a great change from Vallejo's. We found them
responding to our desires even before we had a
chance to ask - they keep their eyes and ears on the customers. All
of us were very impressed - even my kids, who are not great fans of
Mexican food, want to return. This place will be my future
recommendation for great Mexican food.
