| Well, since this note has been dead for about 5 years, it must be time
for a question...does anybody have a good route to CXO3 from the
Briargate/Chapel hills area?
I've been looking at the city parks/trails map I have, and it looks
like I would have to go a fair distance out of my way to avoid certain
death on/around woodmen/academy/i25.
Thanks,
-Robert

75.32 | Pushes the limits, but... | SSDEVO::HOFFMAN | Brian Hoffman | Thu Mar 13 1997 12:52 | 33 |
| If you have a mtn bike, I'd go south on Chapel Hills
drive cross Briargate thru to the Falcon Estates development
and scramble across Academy on Fuller or the one a block over from
it. Go west to the end of whichever road (to Vincent, I think) and
then cross Woodmen at the Hardees light, cut thru Current (or
just go down Vincent). From Dublin and Vincent, Vincent continues
south to an apparent deadend, but a jeep track continues down to
the frontage road off the very north-end of Nevada.
Then either:
1) Cross Nevada immediately and skirt the north end of
the church's wire fence, cross the creek on an old
cement dam beneath the interstate, go north under I25 on
the monument spine trail. Cut thru the parking lots west
of the trail and emerge at Dabling near Rockrimmon.
or
2) Continue beyond the south end of the frontage road to a
road side jeep track, cross under or over Nevada at the
apartment complex, cut thru the complex and pick up the
monument spine trail spur at the pedestrian bridge. Cross
the bridge
and you're on Dabling. Go under I25 and either head
the normal way up Rockrimmon, or immediately wack west
cross the train tracks, behind the Pro-Rodeo, and up the road
to the Marriott. Find a little trail behind the SW corner
of the Marriott that joins the DEC driveway near its
highest point.
If this sounds too bizarre (which it seems now to me, on
rereading what I wrote), wait til the bike path is continuous up
to the Academy and go north and pick up the Santa Fe trail there and
go South to Dabling.

75.33 | Thanks...I'll give it a shot | CSC32::R_GOLLEHON | | Sun Mar 16 1997 10:49 | 10 |
| Brian,
I'll give that a shot...when I lived closer to Dublin I had previously
gone straight down Dublin to Vincent and taken the route you described
from there, so that part shouldn't be too bad.
Thanks,
-Robert
