You could dispute the first one - it's a pretty subjective measure.
The second one is a fact - a count of championships is quantifiable.
The third could be disputed - again, it's a subjective measure. Most New
Yorkers would say the Red Sox are the choke masters of the universe.

A beautiful reply - three references to the Phoenix Suns and none to the
Florida Panthers by the author of the base note.

Back to the topic:
Did the Panthers pick up any scorers this offseason to complement their
defensive prowess. If they're not careful, they'll become the tropical
version of the Bruins...

| Well for those without a clue to the Bruins, Adam Oates is obviously
the key. When he's healthy and playing there's a world of difference
on that team.
It also seems that Lacher to the Bruins was the same as McGuire (the
punter before Walton, that's him right?) was to the Patriots.
btw - Whatever happened to the Sharks? I guess that Russian experiment
of theirs is over.

Yea Oates had a great game. 4 goals and a helper. Only question I
have is 5-1 in da third period and the B's win 6-4. Cable went out so
not sure exactly how it happened but seems like Lacher the sieve gave
up 3 softies and da B's added an empty netter.

| I saw most of the 3rd, Jerry. Lacher couldn't be faulted on the first
3rd period goal. Puck took a few too many caroms. The other two were
questionable, but the bottom line is the B's went into a shell in the
3rd and defensively were running around in their own end, which has
happened way too often this year. The last goal wasn't an open netter.
Stevens was coming up the right side and when he got to the top of the
circle, backhanded a pretty pass right to Oates in the middle and he
banged it home.

| Before a game, there was a rat in the locker room. Scott Mellanby killed
it with his stick, then went out and scored 2(?) goals. The story made it
to the media, the fans caught on, etc.
I think it's fun, except that they have to clean up the ice after a goal.
You could say the same for hat tricks, but they happen less often.

| There's a couple of things about hokey that I don't get.
In the NBA you toss something on the playing surface and you get tossed
and/or locked up. The NFL has outlawed throwing snowballs.
But in hokey, you can pretty much throw anything including up on the ice
after a score. I kinda like the octopi. Rats would be fine but I caint
see plastic rats. And what the hail was it that the 'Burgherites were
throwing the other night?
And another thing I don't understand about hokey is that normally when
you come up fast behind someone and knock the shit outta of 'em, breaking
most of the bones in their face, you get arrested. In hokey it standard
fare. I can understand that the rules of the game would tolerate it but I
don't see why the guy who made the hit is still not subject to local laws
against doing purposeful, bodily harm to another.
But what the hey, I also don't get the plan for D.E.C., if'n in fack
there is one...

There was a case a while back where a player was brought into a Minneapolis
court after a particularly vicious hit during a North Stars game. (Amazingly
enough, I believe the player brought in played for the North Stars'
opponent :-)

Throwing hats on the ice after a hat trick has been happening for
years and I don't mind it. As far as throwing rats on the ice after
every goal, Florida should be assessed a 2 minute delay of game penalty
EVERY time it happens. Since Florida is an expansion team, they need
the gimmic to get fans to attend the games, while its 90 degrees
outside.

I heard of old time hokey fans who used to heat up change and toss it on
the ice. They take tweezers and hold a coin to a flame. Toss it out there
and it melts into the ice. A guy comes along skating full bore and hits
the danged thing and does a skewed endo. The fans were said to piss their
pants. Problem was that you couldn't really be sure it was one of the
opponents but what the hey, a small price to pay to be a fan.

How does a tradition become a tradition? Somebody does it once, and it
catches on. Once upon a time, throwing hats on the ice was a new thing.
If a penalty is given for throwing rats, a penalty should be given for throwing
hats. After all, the words rhyme...

I don't know about you but I rarely crap between periods. I'm usually

When hockey grows up and people in America give a crap about hockey -
meaning a national television contract, maybe people will watch.
Until then, it comes below figure skating and "candle(pin) blowing"

the people who watch candlepin blowing would also watch tiddly winks
