106.0. "JD in the Great White North.....eh." by CAM3::WAY (Shane, The Wonder Dog) Wed Mar 31 1993 11:40

Okay, eh, take off you hosers.

This note is the note for JD in the Great White North, or Vancouver,
eh? Well, after 60 Minutes the other night, you could probably call
it Hongcouver too, eh. Okay.

So, now JD was having some problem, eh, getting in here. Something
about lack of space or not enough pr-OH-cess time, or something like
that eh. So he asked me, eh, to put in the following note, eh, aboot,
what else, the Canadian TV.....eh.

18th Culinary Olympics

Anyone catch the 18th Culinary Olympics from Frankfurt, Germany. It was
on the Sports Network out here lasted night. I fell asleep after the
opening ceremony. They had an "up close and personal" about the
Canadian team. Never realized the teamwork that a bunch of chefs need
to get a tasty and eye appealing meal together. The U.S.A was the
defending team champs, FYI.

The Canadian team has been training for over 2 years, cooking and chopping
and getting ready for the big competition. I must say their team
aprons with the little maple leaf are simply stunning.

The team captain seemed wise and is a veteran of other competitions. Canada
won it all a decade ago, and is trying to regain its place at the top.

The opening ceremony was like the Olympics. The team marched in under
a banner, their country's flag, and a mascot representing the country -
the U.S.A. had what looked like a revolutionary war fellow as their
mascot.

The teams looked smart - with their starched white chef's hats and gleaming
chef's aprons reflecting the halogen haze from the great hall in Frankfurt.

The studio host is the gentleman who hosts Canada's fine coverage of the
other Olympics (you know, Summer and Winter....)

I'm hoping I can get updates somewhere. Got to know who wins the overall
presentation gold medal.....

Live from the Great White North, Eh.

Also, you may want to let the Sports community know that the World
Curling Champeenships are going on RIGHT now in Geneva, Switzerland.

The U.S. teams are in the middle of the pack, but both the Canadian
Men and Woman are playing some great rocks. THe men are undefeated, and
have a big match with Norway coming up, while the woman have lost once,
but are playing inspired curling. Biggest surprise has been the Swiss
woman, who have yet to win a match in front of the home crowd.
