| The Blazers are a roll right now, winning their last 5 games. I think
it's about time to have a topic in here for them.
How 'bout that Cliff Robinson? I think he should make the All-Star
team this year. Any comments? What do you all think of Rod
Strickland? I think he is shutting up all of his early season
naysayers with his great contributions to the team.

| Portland's victory was overshadowed by reports that several Trail Blazers
were implicated in a sex scandal involving three teenage girls in an
incident that allegedly occurred Saturday night in Salt Lake City.
The girls mentioned nobody by their last name. However, the names Clyde,
Terry, Cliff, Jerome and Tracy were listed in the police report. Clyde
Drexler, Terry Porter, Cliff Robinson, Jerome Kersey and Tracy Murray all
denied any involvement in the incident. After the game, Drexler said the
charges were ``totally absurd.'' He had hinted earlier that a lawsuit
might be forthcoming.
The under-age girls were runaways and apparently had been picked up for
shoplifting shortly before telling police their stories.

| Well after the debut of the CryBlazer's Babysitting Service, I'll have
to say that I'll take Ole Chainsaw's Babysitting Service anyday.
Rod and Cliff Robinson have been marked so far. The event took place in
Jerome Kersey's room at the Marriott. Other reports have mentioned
Drexler, Porter, and Murray as participants.
The age of consent in Utah is 16. There were 2 16's and 1 15 involved.
One of the girls' father said he won't press charges because she said it
was a consensual event. However, the police reports say the charge is
rape and the father has no say over whether charges will be filed. The
Blazers involved also face an alleged contributing to minors charge (stop
laughing it's for alcohol).

Well, the Blazers started off the season with a couple of wins
over the Clippers in Japan. The Blazers won the first game by 21 and
the second by 17. Clyde had 26 in the first game and 41 in the second!
He is looking really good, maybe he'll finally be back to his old self
this year. He says he feels better than he has in a couple of years
and is ready to have a great season. I'll keep you posted...

| With the trading deadline just 2 days away, the trading rumors in
Portland are really flying. They all seem to revolve around newly
aquired Otis Thorpe and forward Harvey Grant. Most of the rumors
envolve either Hersey Hawkins, Isaiha(sp) Ryder, or Kendall Gill. The
most interesting one, however, was reported on the local NBC affiliate
last night. The local sportscaster said that it is being reported that
their is a four-way deal in the works that will send Thorpe and Grant
from the Blazers to the Timberwolves, the Timberwolves would then send
Laetner and a #1 pick to the Bulls, the Bulls would send Pippen to the
(gulp) Suns, and the Suns would send Thunder Dan to the Blazers.
What do you all think of that? I think Phoenix would the #1 contender
again with Pippen.

I've heard this one, too.
Laettner supposedly would be joined by Doug West adn Thunder Dan would
move with his teammate Wesley Person. Someone else would have to join
Pippen.
Also, locally anyway, they're dismissing any and all trades involving
Hornets. Admittedly, Hersey is the onliest Hornet being mentioned.

Too heavy or too short a price? My guess is that's too much to pay.
I still say Chicago should have offered Pippen to Thorpe plus a
floating draft swap or another player.
I just wish Celtics would try to get a real power forward if Portland
has an extra.

| >> >Laettner and a #1 for Pippen ?
Thats a fair deal in my book .. Minnesota would then have a starting
lineup of Pippen, Gugliotta, Rooks, Ryder and (point guard) with
Doug West coming off the bench .. not exactly championship material,
but not bottom of the barrel either ..
Chicago's lineup would be Armstrong, Harper, Kukoc, Laettner and
(center by committee) .. plus the additional draft pick ..
>> I just wish Celtics would try to get a real power forward if Portland
>> has an extra.
Portland and the Celtics do not match up well for trades .. both
are trying to get younger and rebuild .. Portland has two solid
power forwards (Thorpe and Williams) .. but those players are more
valuable to a contender in need of rebounding than they are to
a rebuilding team - they will both be well past their prime by the
time the C's are in contention ..
Thorpe (for someone like Hawkins) or Williams (for a lesser player
or picks) to Charlotte would really help the Hornets come playoff
time .. an experienced veteran to help on the boards and on
defense ..

I don't think it's enough. Laettner hasn't lived up to expectations.
And how valuable is that pick, given it isn't guaranteed to be the top
pick in the draft, and this draft is supposed to be weak compared to
most.
Pippen is one of the best players in the NBA. So far (this rumor, and
Marjele-Person) I haven't heard equal value being exchanged.

83.34 | Blazer Mania making a return?! | NWD002::JOYNER_GL | Did I do that? | Tue Feb 28 1995 13:12 | 19 |
| Well, the new look Blazers are playing very well right now. They won
their 4th straight last night 96-83 over the lowly Clippers. Two of
the other three wins in the streak were solid victories against Seattle
and Utah. Thorpe has made a big difference to this team. He has made
the Blazers' front even stronger defensively and has given the team a
good low post scorer, something they desperately needed. The return of
Terry Porter has also been a big lift for the team. He is playing well
coming of the bench for now. The Blazers are now 5-1 since the
addition/return of Thorpe/Porter. Look for this team to make a run
here in the second half of the season and maybe surprise a few people
come playoff time.
On a side note, Rod Strickland was named the NBA's player of the week
yesterday. He averaged 29+ points, 11 assists, and 7 rebs. last week.
He become the first Blazer to win the award since Clyde won it about
this time 4 years ago. Way to go Rod! The teams new nickname is now
"Rod's Squad"
Glen.
