980.0. "DXD V3.0 on UNIX V4.0A?" by GIDDAY::JOYCE (Andy Joyce - Digital CSC Sydney) Mon Mar 03 1997 05:29
Hi Folks,
Customer is running Digital X.500 V3.0 and has just upgraded
Digital UNIX from V3.2G to V4.0A. Since then the DSA will not
start. When they try to do a "CREATE DSA" manually they get the
following error
"The target implementation does not support this entity class"
When they manually run the /var/dxd/scripts/dxd_dsa_startup
script (using the /sbin/sh shell) they get a usage error
"dxd_dsa_startup: usage: ulimit ...etc. etc.....
Customer tried running the script under the csh shell as well
but got the same error.
The customer says that the help for usage shows no -h parameter.
My questions:
1) Is DXD actually supported on this version of UNIX?
2) Supported or not, has anyone else got it running on
this version and, if so, what changes did they make
to the startup script?
Thanks,
Andy
BTW: I'm not a UNIX person (if you hadn't guessed).

re .-1
Not at all? Is it possible to bodgey up the startup script or is there
a fundamental mismatch between the versions?

| A fundamental mismatch is a good description. Don't waste time trying.
V3.1 Field Test kit is availabel that does work on UNIX V4.0A plus patches.
