I think that the message comes from 
MBMAN START DDS which calls DDS$STARTUP.COM

Do you know, what the message-number means? What could be the reason
for this?

    The message number gives the following error :-
    
    	Message number (in HEX): 01458072
    	message found in SYS$COMMON:[SYSMSG]DDS$MSG.EXE;3
    	%DDS-E-NOSUP, Function not supported
    
    I've had a quick search in COMET and someone else reported this error
    in note 3170 of this notes conference.
    
    It might be worth taking a look at that and seeing whether it applies
    to your customer ??
