3182.0. "Is SEQUENCE Mandatory in the P2 Body definition?" by BACHUS::CAPPELLEMANS (The Dark side of the \FORCE) Mon Mar 17 1997 12:36

Hello,

We are experiencing the following problem at a customer site:

The configuration is as follow:

DMW <-> MAILbus <-> MRX <-> HP/OpenMail
the versions are :
DMW V1.3A-3
Message Router V3.3-313
MRX S2.3-004

When we forward a message from DMW, to a HP/OM user, the mail remains stuck
in HP/OM, After taking contact with the HP people, they say that we are
missing a SEQ before the IA5TEXT bodypart in our forwarded message.
I took a look to the P2 dump of one of our message, and indeed, the SEQ is
missing
...
	CON_13 Len = 000000
	  . %X03
	CON_14 Len = 000000
	  . %X00
  CON_0
    SET
      CON_0 Len = 000000
According the HP it should look like:
	CON_13 Len = 000000
	  . %X03
	CON_14 Len = 000000
	  . %X00
 SEQ
  CON_0
    SET
      CON_0 Len = 000000

In fact I saw that if the forwarded mail is containing several attachments,
then we add the SEQ .(and these messages are accepted by HP/OM)

So the question is: in a forwarded Message is the SEQ mandatory???

Many thanks in advance

Pierre

I don't rally understand this. There are several notes in this conference
which talk about interworking between MRX and Openmail, and they all mention
other problems i.e. MRX has been forwarding messages to Openmail successfully
for several years now.

Is this a new or an old OpenMail system? Have they recently changed something?

fwiw, I agree that it looks as if the body may be badly formed - but MRX has
been interworking successfully with all sort of MTAs for many years now.

3182.2I will try to get the infoBACHUS::CAPPELLEMANSThe Dark side of the \FORCEMon Mar 17 1997 14:3012
Grahame,

I will try to receive the info from the customer, and I agree that it looks
strange to me aswell, even stranger is if we forward a message which have more
than one attachment then it's working... (which confirms implicitely that the
'missing' SEQUENCE is the culprit). It look like the version of HP/OM has
a tricky feature....

Stay tuned
