| Huh? What do you mean by "a DDS synchronization"?

3175.3 | But what's the problem? | ZUR01::ASHG | Grahame Ash @RLE | Fri Mar 07 1997 08:20 | 14 |
| Hi Cecilia,
DDS updates happen automatically. What makes you think you have to do
anything - what is the problem you're seeing?
Perhaps a node has been down, and DDS is still processing updates which have
been queued?
Are there any entries in the DDS logfile on the affected systems?
If you describe the problem you have, it should be easier to advise you what
to do.

3175.4 | No immediate problem, just on customer wishlist | HGOVC::CECILIACHENG | | Tue Mar 11 1997 08:25 | 12 |
| Hello Grahame,
Customer has no immediate problem, they sometimes feel that there are
some discrepancy in the DDS database but as they have very tight
resources, they don't have time to trace the problem, they just wish to
have the control to force an update when required.
Thanks & Rgds,
Cecilia

| It's still not clear what you mean. For example, are the discrepancies
between the cache on a non-WSnode and the master copy on it's owning
node? Is the discrepancy between the contents of a particular WS-node
and the master copies on a particular node (or a variety of nodes)?
When they want to 'force an update' what is/are the source(s) and the
targets for the update? For example to repopulate a particular WS-node
from all the other nodes in the network, using MBMAN on the Master node
to toggle WS-node status will do the trick. To repopulate ALL the WSnodes
with the contents of a particular DDS node, delete and rejoin the node.
How to do what they want is a function of what they want to 'fix'.
