I have been doing some testing between a dec/edi (VMS) system at dec and a customer using HpOpenMail server. The interchange arrives ok at their server, but with a space inserted before all segments except the first one (UNB). e.g. UNB+UNOA:1+DEC-CORP:ZZ+UBS-TEST:ZZ+970123:1547+000000013+++A+++1' UNH+00000001300001+PAYORD:2:912:UN+UNSPECIFIED' BGM+450+MZUO0030460+137:970123:101+9' NAD+BE+++SYNERGYTICS INC.:CONSULTING:21 HINDS LANE++PELHAM++3076-3013' NAD+OY+++DEC DIGITAL EQUIPMENT CORP. I also tested between our system and their normal VMS system, and the space is not there. The conclusion is that the hp server is somehow inserting the space. I have cross-referenced the note in the dec/edi conf., and noticed also that MRX is '84 compliant, whereas HpOpenMail latest version is '88 compliant. Has anyone had any similar experiences, and what it could be ? (previous notes,2939,2972, have mention things like "HP has problems with attachments") > Is it related to this for example ? regards, Andrew

Just some more info. :- when I send the interchange such that each record is terminated by a linefeed, instead of linefeed and carriage-return - as set in the conn. id details - the maessage is processed by Hp-openmail (no space). regards, Andrew | |||||
3167.2 | Looks like an EDI issue? | ZUR01::ASHG | Grahame Ash @RLE | Fri Jan 24 1997 12:56 | 14 |
Hi Andrew, I know you've posted this in the EDI conf as well, and now this looks to me even more like an EDI issue. If DEC/EDI is sending out IA5 to MRX, MRX will not change the content at all. Presumably the HP EDI system is not happy with the CRLF, and you've found the fix by changing it. Perhaps there's an EDIFACT rule which covers this? Cheers, grahame |
