Can anyone out there suggest the best time to lift and divide Peonies?
I have a gracious friend that wants to do perennial plant swapping this
spring. He has some peonies that are in dire need of being lifted and
divided.
Any expertise out there on peonies? I've been dreaming of having
some for a long time.
What are the habits, diseases, special care etc.
They are so lovely, I can't wait but do not want to hurt them by taking
them at the wrong time.

I think peonies are supposed to be done in the fall

I have done them earlier and had good luck. I would suggest that
you might take them if your friend wants them out of the garden
and you have the energy. They just might not bloom this year
though.
